The weather was typical Florida spring. Gorgeous! Everything was grilling up nicely until one of the smokers died, uh oh. Lucky for us the neighbor grillers has this sweet toy.

An electric flame thrower! The guys weren’t so sad after all.

But BBQ must go on.

Stephen’s wife Becky and their sweet baby girl Payton came to join the party as well.

After all the grillin, smokin, saucin, and sass talkin we DIDN’T win. Turns out you can’t win if you don’t have a kid at the school. BUMMER.
We knew they had to give the ‘W’ to the parents who still pay to have their children enrolled, so we let it slide

Meet Cielo. Rachel and Dan’s 5 month old husky. She is Adorable. Still has those little puppy teeth and playful bite. Oh, and Dan is Columbian and Cielo is spanish for sky. And yes Dan’s pronunciation is much better than mine. None the less this little spit fire pup is a heart breaker.

“Mommy, I so tired”

Michelle, my dear childhood friend who continues to put up with me after 20+ years, came home to GB for “Holiday” aka vacation here in the states aka Evan’s spring break 2013.

One of the perks to my job is that I can arrange my schedule to take only 3 days vacation and end up with 12 days off in a row.  Awesome, right?!

This was one of the most unique and memorable spring breaks to date.  I finished up a long stretch of shifts at the hospital while the globe trotters worked out the jet leg.  Then it all started as I got to met Michelle’s 1st born baby boy. Lachlan. Or Lochie.  ADORABLE!  We spent a few days reminiscing in GB, then drove to Atlanta to see Ginny and her family, then hopped a flight to Boston to see Michelle’s sister, Jenny,  and a few other GB turn Bostonians, then back via Atlanta and a 6 hour drive home.

This spring break was unique because it didn’t involve bathing suits and sunscreen but pea coats and scarfs.  Most memorable because for the first time I was able to see my bestie as a new mom!  And the strangest and exciting thing was instead of being surrounded by friends I was surrounded by my friends and LOTS of babies!  Other than Tillman I met all these sweet little faces for the first time during the break.

The preparations began a few days before.  We borrowed a grill, ordered a pig, made corn hole boards, ran a bunch of errands, pressure washed the house and drive way (by we I mean my dad:)) racked leaves, cleaned the house as best we could, and then spread the word.  I was most excited about how excited the neighbors were.  They are all precious and I love our neighborhood!

It turned out to be a blast.  We have been working so hard for the bast 3 months and this celebration with family and friends really makes it feel like home. We are so blessed and grateful for this adventure.

The turn out was a little over 60 people, the mojo pork was delish, and here are a few pics.  I was so busy having a blast that I forgot all about snapping photo’s of my adorable decor and Jeff’s mad grilling skills so forgive me for there only being a few.

Jeff and I saved a row of cabinets that we took down to open up the feel of the tiny kitchen.  See old kitchen HERE and the newish kitchen HERE.  We were able to find a place where they would be useful above the new washer & dryer.

If we are lucky we’ll get that piece of dry up before to long

One afternoon Jeff mentioned how much he would like to roast a whole pig.  I was thinking we should have a housewarming. So we decided why not do both.  Next Saturday we are going to place a smoker in the driveway then let Jeff and his buddies do what they do.  Some ladies and I are making a few sides and bevies (my word for beverages).  Throw in some friends and new neighbors and what you have is a real good time.

Thanks to my dear sweet friend for making this so we look a bit more legit.  Michelle you’re awesome.

That charm & character of an older home it seems that when people say it comes at a price that is very very true.  It turns out that are old cast iron pipes were not ready for this family.  We had to snake the clean out three times, have the plumbers out three different time, and finally pump the septic tank.  Jeff and I were freaking out a bit that we might have to dig up and replace the drain field since the water was draining so slow.  A few weeks of really fast showers and using as little water possible isn’t that much fun.

Jeff and I were both off Wednesday to hang with Mason the septic tank man.  He was our favorite man EVER when he informed us that our drain field was just fine and there were some roots blocking the main pipe out of the house and that it was no problem to fix.  YEAH!

We have some maintenance that needs to be done since the pipes are from 1968 but as of right now things are flowing great!

Yucky.
